At the end of February our PMVA lead trainer and MD, Ash, attended the GSA 3 day tutor re-qualification course.
The course was fantastic, lead by Terry Heenan, GSA director and senior tutor.
Terry introduced us to new techniques that could really help to change the way we mange violent and disturbed behaviour, including administering I.M medication from a supine position, which means we avoid prone restraint more often now.
We also looked at new techniques for taking blood samples under restraint from seated and supine positions, again negating the need for prone restraint at times.
Ash finished the course remaining an A grade tutor, and is looking forward to pushing the new techniques to improve physical intervention in healthcare.
