Fire Safety Awareness

Basic fire safety is essential for all staff to protect lives and businesses alike. This course will provide a basic understanding of fire, common causes and how to reduce the risk of fires starting. 

Fire Safety Awareness is a half-day course that can be certificated with a non-regulated MVA Training certificate or certificated with the Ofqual regulated FAA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) and is aimed at all general staff.

Managing fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our Level 1 course in fire safety awareness will give learners an overview of their responsibilities to manage fire risks at work.

Our Fire Safety courses are Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved, so you can be certain that the quality of training and first aiders in your organisation are of the standard you need.

About This Training Course

The identified aims of our Fire Safety Awareness Level 1 course are:

To provide a safer work environment through basic fire safety knowledge. 
To know the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace. 
To educate learners on the employee and employer responsibilities in fire safety. 

The objectives of this course are:

To understand basic fire safety and what to do in the event of an emergency. 
To understand the principles of fire risk control. 
Understand the basics of practical fire safety

This course covers the following topics:

The main causes of fires in the workplace. 
Methods of raising the alarm and contacting the emergency services.
Components of the fire triangle. 
Controlling fire risks. 
Fire safety equipment checks. 

This course is normally delivered over 4 hours.

For qualification purposes, learners are assessed through a 10 question test paper at the end of the course.

There are two options for certification:
The learner can be certificated with a non-regulated MVA Training certificate OR
The learner can be certificated with the Ofqual regulated FAA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF)

The level 1 qualification in health and safety is aimed and staff new to the workplace, or with minimal responsibility for health and safety. The course focuses on general employee’s responsibilities. The level 2 qualification is aimed at supervisors and managers with enhanced responsibilities to health and safety such Reps or those conducting Risk Assessments.
The level 1 qualification in Fire Safety is aimed and staff new to the workplace, or with minimal responsibility for fire safety. The course focuses on general employee’s responsibilities. The level 2 qualification is aimed at those who may have increased responsibility to fire safety such as Fire Wardens and Fire Marshalls.
