First Aid At Work

It is a requirement of health and safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in, and provide adequate first aid training, personnel and equipment to manage any injuries or ill-health at work.

First Aid At Work is a 3-day course that can be offered as a standalone certified course or as a Level 3 OFQUAL qualification.

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to do with situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

From simple accidents to life-threatening scenarios like anaphylactic shock or cardiac arrest, we can confidently train your staff to a high standard giving them the best chance to save lives.

First Aid At Work qualifications delivered throughout Norfolk and Suffolk are Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved and regulated by OFQUAL so you can be certain that the quality of training and first aiders in your organisation are of the standard you need.

Based in Norfolk all our First Aid courses are available throughout the UK.

Our First Aid courses are taught by experienced professionals who have worked in or are still involved in healthcare. Our skills range from health and social care to public events first aid management.

The identified aims of our First Aid At Work course are:

To promote health and well being in the workplace.
To provide learners with the ability to support and care for heart attack victims.
To save lives through quality CPR and AED resuscitation skills.
To provide learners with the ability to support and care for people that have suffered a wide variety of injuries.
To educate learners in a range of illnesses and diseases that may affect people in the work place.

The objectives of this course are:

To understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider.
To be able to perform CPR to an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing.
To be able to provide First Aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing.
To be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking.
To be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
To be able to recognise and know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.
To know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries.
To know to how to respond to person that have become unwell due to a range of conditions and illnesses.

This course covers the following topics:

Day 1
Legalities and responsibilities
Action in an emergency
Primary survey & secondary assessment
Resuscitation and AED 
The respiratory system
 Disorders of circulation 
Wounds and bleeding 
Seizures 
Minor injuries

Day 2
CPR & AED Revision
Bones, joints and muscle injuries 
Head and spinal injuries
Chest and abdominal injuries

Day 3
Poisoning
Specialised burn injuries 
Eye injuries

This course is normally delivered between the hours of 09:30 – 16:30 for 3 days.
This course can delivered in blocks of 1 day over a maximun 3 week period.

The course is normally delivered as a certificated course, covering all the aspects required by the HSE.
It can also be delivered as a level 3 qualification. The qualification is awarded by First Aid Awards Limited who are regulated by OFQUAL.
